Shopping For Straw Hats
What could be more pleasant than an afternoon of shopping for a new summer hat? But where exactly does one shop for hats these
days? Being someone who does not enjoy hours of shopping, my hat-buying trips usually consist of a trip to Foley's downtown on my lunch hour. If anyone would like
to share locations of hat shops and other places to buy hats, please send your suggestions to The Church Hat Photographer.
Grandmother's straw hat
My love of summer hats is clear when I see how they out -number my winter hats. Some of
these summer hats I had completely forgotten about, and some I have never even worn. Some I don't know why I bought in the first place! If you are going to
spend your money on a hat, make sure it is becoming to your facial features. As Mae Johnson said in The Church Hat's March publication, "Anyone can
wear a hat. They just have to find one that fits them." One of my most cherished possessions is one of my grandmother's straw hats pictured above.
Although my grandmother, Mrs. Lottie Strong, wore it well, this hat does absolutely nothing for me when I put it on.
Wide-brimmed summer straws are not only beautiful, they also help keep the sun out of your eyes. But whether you are
looking for wide-brimmed, pillbox, lampshade or some other type of hat, the links below have some interesting designs that you might be interested in.
Again, if you know of any hat shops (other than wig and beauty supply stores), please send in the locations and they will be published in a future publication of The Church Hat.
